Custom deathmatch map, designed for Unreal Tournament 4.
A medium sized-arena fit for a deathmatch game, using bots or player opponents. As in all deathmatch rounds – the player needs to eliminate all enemies from the area – and reach the limit score before time expires.
Level Design Approach
The level presents obstacles that can be used for cover or to take the opponent by surprise – on a horizontal perspective, but also I’ve introduced various segments of verticality – which will present a new mode of gameplay. Hard obstacles, both full and half sized will be encountered throughout the map.
In this way I am allowing the player to use various ranges for combat (including long range using the sniper, close quarters, mid, short and long) and at various vertical levels.
There are 3 levels of verticality – each designed to attack the opponent from various angles.
As in a standard deathmatch map, the player needs to traverse the area in order to fight and defeat the other combatants, pick up armor shards, ammo packages for his weapons and the weapons themselves.
Weapons used are: Flak Cannon, Link Gun, Mini-Gun, Sniper Gen 2, Grenade Launcher, Instagib Rifle. In addition the player will start with the standard Enforcer Pistol.
Enemies will have access to the same items. Multiple spawn points were also provided – therefore at respawn – the player gets to be in a different zone of the map. For the vertical access, player can use jump pads and stairs elements.
